Fame brings happiness!

What comes to your mind when you hear the word MUSIC?    Happiness? Love? Peace? Rhythm? We all agree that music touches us, makes us move. It  has a superb power of gathering lots of fans such as in RIR 2011. However, an inconvenient question  has been raised about famous artists who were involved with drugs despite all success and money. Is there any reasonable explanation for such behavior? We invite our readers to reflect on this issue. We don’t mean here to judge any of them. After all, they are idols. Take a look at some examples and leave your comment.

Elis Regina Carvalho Costa was born in Porto Alegre on March 17th, 1945. She was a Brazilian artist, famous  for her remarkable stage presence,  her voice  and strong  personality. Nowadays, Elis Regina is considered by many critics and other musicians the best Brazilian singer of all time. Her great success came after the songs“ Falso Brilhante” and “Transversal do Tempo”. She innovated  musical shows in the country where she was able to demonstrate contradictory  emotions such as sadness and happiness in a single presentation or in  a single song. She died on January 19th, 1982 due to complications from an overdose of cocaine and alcohol, causing national commotion.  She was just 36 years old when it happened.

Agenor de Araujo Miranda Neto, who was known  as Cazuza ,was born in Rio de Janeiro on  April 4, 1958 and died in his hometown on July 7, 1990. He was a Brazilian singer and composer who won fame as singer and the main songwriter of the rock  band Barão Vermelho. Cazuza is considered one of the best composer of Brazilian music. Cazuza was also known for being rebellious, bohemian and controversial, having stated in interviews that he was bisexual. During teenage, he was involved with drugs. He also  announced to be HIV positive in 1989, which caused his death in 1990.

Here there are  other international examples:
 Elvis Aaron Presley (1935 - 1977)

Amy Jade Winehouse (1983 - 2011)

 Kurt Donald Cobain (1967 - 1994)
Can you think of other famous artists involved with drugs ? Were they influenced by the artistic environment?
