Brazilian Funk

Brazilian Funk was born in Rio de Janeiro’s slums. It’s different from American Funk, but has some things in common, for example: the influence of Soul Music.

In the beginning, the songs’s letters talked about the routine of poor people. Today, it talks about sex, violence and relationships. Some war cries created the dances became hits as:"UH TERERE" (a false cognate of rap:"WHOOP THERE IT IS!", from American group TAG TEAM.

Brazilian funk is a success everywhere in the country, especially in Rio de Janeiro.

What do you think of it?
